Left: E. T. Wickham with one of his works. The sad reality of the Wickham place is evident in these pictures. The in-tact, painted statues clearly were powerful works of art. Seeing them in full paint and detail is reminisicent of Gothic cathedrals, where once-brightly painted saints have turned gray and somber as they rot under the assault of modern pollution.

For more dramtic pictures of Wickham and his statues in their heyday, go to the page maintained by his grandson, Joe Schibig, who provided the two images here. Joe's page supplies important and moving documentation of this artist and his great monument.
