Emory Blagdon was untrained in art, isolated in his rural Nebraska home, personally eccentric and, most important, the creator of stunningly innovative, delicate and beautiful work. He filled his work shed with assemblages intended to be healing machines but that also happened to be objects of beauty. The environment now resides at the John Michael Kohler Art Center in Sheboygan, WI, which displayed the machines as part of its Sublime Spaces and Visionary Worlds exhibit.
