Great tramp art-inspired furniture Some of my favorite furniture is made by Dan Pohl, who designs, builds and paints all his pieces by hand, drawing inspiration from tramp art and traditional American country furniture. I'm not big on reproductions, and neither is Dan. Although he does not conceal his sources of inspiration, each piece is clearly his own. The elaborate woodworking, the painted designs and the lustrous finishes are like nothing else you'll see being made today, or in the past. This is furniture from a personal vision deeply informed by folk and outsider art, but also deeply creative in its own right.
